A temporary public art installation hosted inside an old school bus takes participants on a magical journey. From the outside, the Midnight Special looks like a standard, retro Australian school bus but step inside and you find yourself travelling through a vortex of choreographed light and sound – a multi-sensory experience where colour shatters in hypnotising patterns synchronised with a curated soundscape, creating a mesmerising spectacle.

The vortex shifts through a variety of temporal moments, creating an array of optical illusions for viewers who see only the elusive, floating light formations rather than the boundaries of the bus’s structure.
