HELIXIS is a light sculpture commissioned for the inaugural Soft Centre Festival. The sculpture towers over a person's perceptions, creating intricate patterns of light in spiral-like forms that ascend its vertical dimension. The work is a homage to the reverent form of a double-helix, a structure that all organisms share as a method of encoding genetics. The interplay of the medium of light with marvellous helical structure has further significance, as light sustains all life that we know.
During the event the sculpture was controlled in real-time, creating a multi-sensory effect when curated with the live performances.
