CONCENTRIC.
REELIZE.STUDIO presents CONCENTRIC, a debut grand-scale interactive installation that uses staging equipment & video panels to create an intimate, immersive environment.
The interactive visualisations displayed on the installation will draw on the liquid motion of bodies of water and utilise Biophilic Design principles and our bespoke software to respond to local environmental conditions. This way, the installation’s imagery will evolve over the festival period, generating a constantly unique experience for VIVID Sydney patrons. In addition, motion tracking will allow patrons to directly engage with the work through their movements in the installation space.
We have two different designs for the installation. Both utilise LED screen panels in unique configurations:
The first design comprises six curved walls, three internal walls assembled from LED video panels, and three external concave mirrored walls aligned with the gaps in the video walls. The concave mirrors, combined with the LED walls, create a unique optical effect when patrons move across the installation space. The concave mirror reverses the directionality to its opposite, allowing visualisations to flow in continuity, like a whirlpool around the installation space.
The second installation has four walls, where each wall is made out of four LED pylons separated by five vertical garden sections. In this configuration, we use double-sided LED panels to allow people outside the installation to experience a part of the work. Overhead, branching to the centre of the work is a trussing system creating a round pagoda with plants integrated into its form.
At the centre of both installation's designs is an LED floor housed under a thick piece of circular polycarbonate, creating a portal.
